Chapter 3: Part 9

Chapter 3: Part 9

The sun had already disappeared onto the horizon as the day came and gone. Mira was the first to awake as she slipped outside to enjoy the freshly fallen snow among the brush of the back yard. The ocean was beyond the stone wall behind her as she could hear the clap of the waves hit along the shore. “We must be so far north…I wonder where we really are.” she said softly, tracing her finger along the dust-like blanket of flakes. This world seemed to be of paradise with the ambiance of the atmosphere that had surrounded her, however she was not alone.

The sound of crunching was heard, as if someone knew where she was and wanted to speak with her. The scent she remembered of the one Vampire she somehow could not even stand. Her eyes moved to see, but not her head; it was Jacoby. He chuckled, ”Well, you certainly look different, without your wings and all. You look more like a porcelain doll than a fairy.” His voice had a chill that Mira sensed as a warning. She muttered a reply to him, “I am a Vampire now, the word has already flowed through the coven.”

“Shouldn’t you be in bed already instead of moping about, Jacoby? Dawn will be coming soon.” Lucretia said as she leaned against the archway. Jacoby scoffed at her, “Do not mock my sadness woman, I do not need you or anyone else to tell me to go to bed.” Lucretia raised a brow, “Is this about Mira? She isn’t dead because Mathias brought her back, they’re getting married next week. I figured Thorne would have told you by now.”

Jacoby’s ears came to attention as he stood up quickly, glaring at Lucretia with fury raging within his veins  Lucretia smirked slightly, “My, you seem so shocked about the news. What is it, Jacoby? I thought you wanted Mira to live?” He stayed silent, wanting to speak but hesitated. He clutched his fist tightly as his eyes glowed with intense anger. Mira was to be married, and not to him. He knew she was not his to begin with, but it still filled his mind with fire all the same.

“After all this time, I never realized why I was so angry with my Master, I never understood how I could be so upset with him. He had saved me from uncertain death that my family had put upon me. It was only a matter of time before my magic would fade from me and I would then perish. He had took me in, gave me a home, and taken very good care of me….and all the while that he did, I had hated him, blaming him for my sadness when it was never his fault. I realize now that I love him, and that I was somehow denying it in my heart without even knowing it. I could not ask for a better Vampire, a better man for that matter….to have for eternity.”

Mathias backed Mira against the bed as he crawled over her. Mira could feel her heart race rapidly more than it ever has before with strange emotions washing over her body. Mathias’ voice turned from friendly to a sensual tone, “There is nothing that could replace you, nothing. You are my world, and everything that it revolves around. I am in love with you Mira, and there is nothing that can stop my craving for you…” Mira trembled, but it was not a sense of fright. She hesitated to speak, and replied with a simple nod, feeling hypnotized by her Master’s silver eyes.

Mathias sighed as a smile formed upon his face. Mira thought it as odd since Mathias hardly ever smirked, not even a little. “Silly girl,” he said shaking his head, “Why must you always be so oblivious to the things around you? If you were only a single purpose, do you think I would even spare my own blood just to bring you back? You mean more to me than you will ever know. You are not source of energy, magic, food, but a source of light that I have lacked for so long…something that is irreplaceable…”

Mira stared at him in complete shock, her tears staining her soft freckled cheeks of blood. She could not believe what he was saying, she was more than just a pet? Was this a trick of some sort? How she wanted to believe him, to actually yearn for the words he was giving her. “W-what…what are you even saying, Master…? Are you listening to yourself…?” Her voice was quaky with nervousness as she was beyond confused.

Mira cried heavily, but before she could cuss every existing word in the dictionary, she heard the door open with a familiar scent in the air; Mathias. She looked over at him, “You did this didn’t you…DIDN’T YOU?!” She charged at him angrily, though he paused her attack with her wrist tightly in his large pale hand, “I did it to save you, Mira. You were dying. I could not live without you by my side.” His voice was firm, enough to bring Mira’s fury to no longer a raging flame.

Somehow her Master still had that power over her. Her eyes widened to his reply. He really did care about her despite the fact she was his slave. She had to know why he bothered to keep her alive, “Why…? I’m not a fairy anymore, I thought I only served one purpose to you…Shouldn’t you have just let me die?”

Mira awakened suddenly, feeling the cold chill of the room raise the bumps upon her skin. She rubbed her eyes with a yawn and felt her stomach churn, though not in a sickened way like she had before. It was a hunger, but one she has never experienced. She sat up from the bed and glanced in the vanity mirror as usual, but something was not right this time.

Her wings were gone as if they were never there at all, her amethyst eyes glowed in the dimness like a cat’s eye, her skin much paler than the norm she was used to, and the most noticeable of all…she had fangs - vampire fangs. She lightly screamed as she covered her mouth in horror, “No! No this isn’t real! I’m dreaming! How could…this…NO! Wake up, Mira! FUCKING WAKE UP!!”

Chapter 3: Part 2

“My lord? Are you in…” Thorne’s words seemed to fly away from him as he seen the moonlight pour into the Vampire Lord’s bedroom as if it were a way of loss, sadness; not the same moonlight he recalled of energy and life. “I am here, Thorne…” Mathias said solemnly, holding onto his fairy’s limp hand with his head lowered. “My lord…w-what…what happened?”Thorne asked in shock. Mathias sighed as he tried to find the right way to explain as he too could not understand, but it was unfortunately true, “She’s dying…when she was exiled from her kingdom, it was a death sentence…without her being in the aura of her homelands, her magic cannot replenish, therefore she is passing away…” Thorne became baffled as well as his leader, “Can you not save her?” “I’ve bitten her already,” Mathias began, “It should not have been this long to take effect…but…somehow I have faith…Mira is a fighter…she will get through this…” Thorne watched the fairy as the luminescence of the full moon made her look fragile, like a sleeping porcelain doll, “Do you really believe that, sir? That she will live?” Mathias felt his chest cave in from Thorne’s curiosity. Deep down the Vampire Lord wanted Mira to survive, he loved her, truly; he could not focus on what eternity would be like if she had faded from him.

Chapter 3: Part 1

“The snow, the chilled night air - what a memorable icon it is for me. A memory of back when my name had a meaning, a definition of righteousness and power. I would do anything for my family, friends, and even sacrifice my standing for them if I had to, and that time had come. I was a princess of the fae, Mira Ortega, next in line to be queen of the sacred forests, untouched by any other race that could contaminate it, but all that is lost now. It was my decision to let a relative run away, and I was exiled for it. Happiness…what does that word even mean anymore? I belong to a Vampire Lord now, I fell to the bottom of the latter, no longer something as great as he is now. I need to let go; if I do not, I fear my sadness and despair will consume me…”

Chapter 2: Part 10

Mathias thought of the reasons why Mira could be feeling the way she did earlier today, nearly almost driving himself mad with the silence that surrounded him. “Her powers could be waning…” He said softly, “Or she very well could be coming down with a mortal cold…” Mathias shook his head, “No that can’t be right, it must be her powers then, but she hasn't used them…” “Matty, you won’t believe what Jacoby said today!” He glanced up annoyingly to that nickname, seeing his twin sister sit beside him. He turned his gaze towards the flames in the chimney, “Jacoby is the least of my worries, Lucretia.” “No you don’t understand,” she went to argue, “He apologized to Mira, he actually said sorry for like what…in a century? I think it’s absolutely funny how nice he’s becoming.” Mathias raised a brow and slowly turned his attention back to Lucretia. She nodded happily with a grin, “Mhmmm! My expression was the same when I heard about it!”

Chapter 2: Part 9

Mira’s dizziness was getting the best of her as she made her way to the kitchen  thinking maybe it was because she hadn't ate anything hardly in the past few days. Her vision was blurring a bit as she bumped into the marble counters, holding her head from the coming headache and a sudden flash of heat, “What is wrong with me…I’ve never felt this way before…if only I could just…” A familiar soothing deep voice was heard with an opening of the kitchen door, “Mira, darling, I’m back. Wait… what is the matter, sweetheart?” She turned around slowly with what strength she had seeing it was her master. Quickly, she dashed into his arms, but her legs gave out from the weakness that consumed her. Mathias, who was good with instant reflex, caught her and held her in his arms, this was the first time he saw her this way and it worried him greatly, “I can’t leave you alone for an hour without something going wrong, look how pale you are…” He said firmly running his fingers in her hair. She buried her head in his chest as she said softly, “I just want to go to bed, for a while, please…” Mathias sighed, hoping she’d be alright by tomorrow, “Alright love, I will carry you to the bedroom and watch you for a little bit, do not worry about anything for today. Truth is you may be coming down sick.” Sick…Mira hasn't been sick since she was a young fae, but that didn't matter; she wanted rest and that’s all she could think of and possibly want for the time being.
